Football Star Academy, as seen on Channel 7's Sunrise

14 June 2018

In case you missed it, Wednesday morning 13th June we had the pleasure of having Channel 7 Sunrise’s much loved weather presenter, Sam Mac and the crew broadcasting LIVE from our national support office, Sport Star Academy in Melbourne.

One day out from the biggest sporting event in the world, the 2018 FIFA World Cup it was a morning of non-stop football with our Football Star Academy players braving the 5am media call to come to the Sport Star Academy office, dressed in their football gear and ready to have fun and play football for the cameras live across the nation.

Check out some of the Football Star Academy players from our Weekly, Elite and Centre of Excellence programs being interviewed LIVE on TV. We think some of these kids are pure naturals in front of the camera, don't you? It’s great to see them having so much fun. Click on the image to watch the clip.

Next up, we had the pleasure of young gun Matilda player, Alex Chidiac come and join us, hang out with the kids and be interviewed by Sam Mac. You can watch it by clicking here.

The Sport Star Academy School Grant’s program was officially launched with Sam Mac and the Sunrise crew. Sport Star Academy is excited to offer Australian schools the opportunity to share in $1,000,000 dollars’ worth of free sports programs, as part of a national campaign to get kids moving, learning new skills and discovering the benefits of regular physical activity. The Sport Star Academy School Grants program is open to all Australian kindergartens, primary and secondary schools. The grant includes 4 x 45 minute sessions, to be held at your school with qualified coaches and quality equipment, in sports including footy, football (soccer), rugby, netball, tennis or golf.

Anyone can nominate a school – students, teachers, parents – just submit a 200-word blurb on why your school should be a part of the SSA School Grants Program.

Finally check out Sam’s interview with former Socceroo, Clint Bolton. Clint Played 479 games professionally with Brisbane Strikers, Sydney FC, Sydney Olympic, Melbourne Heart and Parramatta Power, plus 4 games with Socceroo’s. Clint also won four championships 2 with Sydney FC in the A League and 2 national championships.

What does Clint think about the Socceroo’s performance this World Cup? Can any of our Football Star Academy players recreate Tim Cahill’s sweet goal in 2014 World Cup game against the Netherlands?  Watch it all right here

Thanks Sam Mac, Shaun, Paul and the Channel 7 Sunrise team as well as our FSA players and families for an awesome morning at Sport Star Academy!
