"As Local As" Sumo x SSA Terms and Conditions

TERMS AND CONDITIONS – Sumo Energy Sport Star “As Local As” Grants Program

1. Promoter

This competition is being conducted by Sport Star Academy Pty Ltd (ABN 54 127 499 316) (Sport Star Academy) in partnership with Sumo Power Pty Ltd (ABN 86 601 199 151) (Sumo).

2. Competition period
The competition opens on 1st September 2025 and closes at 11:59pm AEST on 31st October 2025 

3. How to enter

Entries must:

a) be submitted by a parent or legal guardian over the age of 18,

b) be submitted via the official link provided on the Sport Star Academy website or social media platforms,

c) include a short video of your child (aged 5-12 years) participating in any sporting activity (e.g., kicking a goal, dunking, bowling, sprinting etc.) – no time limit applies to the video, but there is a file size limit of 100MB (highlight video).

d) include one sentence about why your child loves playing sport.

4. Eligibility

Your child must be aged between 5 and 12 years old as of the closing date.

You must reside in New South Wales, Victoria, or Queensland.

Only one entry per child is allowed.

Employees and immediate family members of Sport Star Academy and Sumo are not eligible to enter.

5. Prize details

a) A total of 9 scholarships will be awarded, each valued at $250:

3 to entrants residing in New South Wales,

3 to entrants residing in Victoria, and

3 to entrants residing in Queensland.

b) Each scholarship is valid for one full-term Sport Star Academy program at any participating location.

c) Scholarships can be redeemed in any school term within 12 months of the winner announcement and are non-transferable, non-refundable and not redeemable for cash.

6. Judging criteria

a) Entries will be judged by a panel of representatives from Sport Star Academy and Sumo.

b) Winner selection will be based on the judging panel assessment of:

i)  creativity,

ii) passion, and

iii) effort and enthusiasm  as shown in the video.

c) The judging panel decision is final.

7. Winner notification

a) Prize winners will be notified via the email address provided in the competition entry submission by 7th November 2025.

b) Winning entries may also be announced on the Sport Star Academy and Sumo social media pages.

c) If a prize winner does not respond within 7 days of being contacted, the prize may be forfeited and offered to an alternate winner.

8. Use of Content
By entering, parents and guardians grant permission for Sport Star Academy and Sumo to use the submitted highlight video and their child’s first name and age and state of residence for promotional purposes including social media, websites and other marketing.

 9. Privacy
All personal information will be collected and managed in accordance with Sumo’s privacy policy which can be found at https://www.sumo.com.au/privacy and used only for purposes of this promotion as permitted by these promotion terms and conditions.

10. Limitation of Liability
a) Nothing in these terms and conditions limits, excludes or modifies the statutory consumer guarantees provided under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), or any other consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded by law.

b) Except for liability that cannot be excluded by law (including the consumer guarantees mentioned above), Sport Star Academy and Sumo exclude all liability for any personal injury, loss or damage (including loss of opportunity), whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising from:

• participation in this competition
• any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction
• any entry that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected
• use of the scholarship prize
• any variation in prize value

c) Sport Star Academy and Sumo's liability for any breach of a consumer guarantee that cannot be excluded is limited to, at their option, re-supplying the service or paying the cost of having the service re-supplied.

11. Entries and Originality

All videos and content submitted must be original and created by or for the child entering the competition. Any entries found to contain copyrighted material belonging to third parties may be disqualified. Parents and guardians warrant that they have the right to submit the video content and any music or other material included.

12. Winner Requirements 

Prize winners may be required to provide proof of identity, proof of their child's age, and proof of residency in the nominated state before the scholarship can be awarded. If suitable proof cannot be provided within 14 days of request, the prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner.

13. Variation and Acceptance
Sport Star Academy reserves the right to modify, cancel or suspend the competition if unforeseen circumstances arise or to ensure the fairness and integrity of the promotion, provided any action taken is reasonable and proportionate to the circumstances. Submission of an entry indicates full acceptance of these terms and conditions.
